What is a Special Volunteer?
As a Special Volunteer with Second Time Around Aussie Rescue, Inc., you fill a very necessary niche in our organization. You are the folks we count on to do the many things your rescue volunteer doesn't have the equipment, knowledge, availability or time to cover while rescuing homeless Aussies.
There are so many things we need help with:
- Transportation of dogs from place to place
- Checking local shelters and pounds for dogs who need our help
- Advertising our available dogs
- Web site preparation and updating
- Help with phone work
- Copying of paperwork
- Donations of copying
- Informational booth set-up and manning
- Getting donations of collars, leads, dog food, bowls and other necessities
- Finding donated or low-cost veterinary care
- Grooming
- Helping update and send out a local referral list of available dogs
- Checking thrift stores for blankets and towels
- Checking your local newspaper and yard sales for reasonably priced crates, dog houses or kennel runs for possible purchase
- Artists can donate their work for raffles or sale
Fund raising is always a necessity! We need help with:
- Raffles/Auctions—either finding donations or selling tickets
- Bake Sales
- Food Booths
- Requesting donations from other organizations
- Helping get grants that might be available
There are so many things you can do with your special talents! We are always appreciative of anything anyone can do to help our Aussies in need.
